Subject: OPur meeting of 24 August 2011
Hello Adrian
There are two things I would like to say.
The first is that I am haunted by my emotionally charged expression of frustration and anger at the broad subject of prejudice when George made the point that I understood and accepted that the Children Services were reasonable to investigate when they received the report from the hospital. I would like to apologise for my remarks because they were a frustrated and angry outburst and probably didn't actually explain my position very well. I would also like to clarify my views on this particular point although I think it is somewhat explained in the complaint of 13 July 2011 (the 20 page complaint) under the title "Erroneous implication of a fair investigation" on page 6. Of course a responsible body should investigate such remarks; It would be irresponsible of them not to. But they did not investigate the remarks, they did leave them hanging in the report with all their dark implications, and they simply used (or abused) them as an excuse to do their own investigation
which was then unacceptable in its own right as explained at length in my complaints. That failure to investigate and, necessarily, to report their findings was perhaps more irresponsible than the behaviour of the nurse in the first place.
The second thing is that I forgot to mention the Sumshire County Council's new initiative to help families with complex needs. I first encountered this 'pilot project' via the "Message from Council Leader Aston Vale OBE" on the Council's web site but it appears to have mysteriously vanished. I wonder if you are aware of this project and if it might be of some relevance. It is of course possible that it never materialised because of austerity measures but it might be worth looking into.
I would also like to say how nice it was to meet you on Wednesday. Although I had not slept all night due mainly to reoccurring migraines and my brain was not entirely focused I did feel that you were sincere and supportive. So thank you for that.
Wishing you well
Dave
