| Warrior Cats, The
Original Prophecy is about a young house cat called Rusty who dreams of
living wild. One day he ventures into the forest behind his home and meets
Greypaw; a Warrior Apprentice in ThunderClan, one of the four clans of the
forest. He also meets Bluestar, the leader of ThunderClan and Lionheart,
Greypaw’s mentor. Bluestar eventually invites Rusty to join ThunderClan
and train to be a Warrior. Rusty accepts and goes to live in ThunderClan
camp. He receives his apprentice name: Firepaw, and begins his life as a
cat of the forest. The rest of the series is about his adventures as he
works his way up from Apprentice to Warrior and even to Deputy and Leader. This series has to be one of my favourites. It’s extremely well written, especially as Erin Hunter is writing about cats so a lot of normal clichés aren’t even possible. It’s nice to read a book written from the animals perspective once in a while, and Erin Hunter does it extremely well. The plot is well laid out and the background information is there, so Erin Hunter knows what she is writing about, even though some things aren’t actually written in the books. These books have opened my mind to
a billion possibilities in writing. They are most definitely
“one-of-a-kind” books. They have the flair of originality while still
being something that will appeal to children of all ages. Anyone who
hasn’t read these books is missing out, big time. They are inspirational
and fun to read. |
